My mother loves her Round-Robin-tablerunner, but it's brown and red. And right now (Germany is frozen in January) everybody is waiting for spring! So she had asked me for another one.
As usual I searched at Pinterest for motives. I found these tulips at beeinmybonnetco. They don't give measurements on that site, but I can make them by myself.
Here are my cutting instructions for the big tulips, the smaller ones are half the size.
The real work didn't start until now.
I did not want the tulips to stand all in one row. There should be a random feeling like on a meadow. AND the square quilt had to be on-point because that's the way my mother will put the runner on the table. AND the middle had to stay free of tulips - there she wants to place a vase with real tulips. Tricky!
First I put the measurements approximately on graph paper (the finished size should be round about 30 inches). I scattered little paper-tulips and shifted them until I was sure that I could accomodate all big tulips and at least 8 of 9 small ones.
What you see here is the final layout.
The actual sewing took much longer than I anticipated. All these tiny filler pieces... All in one row would've been faster - but definitely more boring as a result
